DoodlepediaFall 2012 Doing & Learning
Doodlepedia reinforces simple science and social studies lessons with fun and creative drawing activities. Children learn about chameleon camouflage and then color several of the creatures to match their surroundings. They later learn that tiger sharks are known as "the garbage can of the sea," because they will eat bizarre things like sun hats and torpedoes. On the accompanying page, children draw a bellyful of strange snacks inside of a tiger shark. Another spread shows a beach filled with towels in shapes ranging from circles to dodecagons. The decagon-shaped towels are to be colored purple, the dodecagon ones striped, and so on. All told, the book covers everything from space travel through Ancient Rome. Children will enjoy spending hours with this clever activity book, and parents will enjoy bringing this low-tech option along on car rides and camping trips.
