Review:

Visit The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That website, and you'll be welcomed by the cat himself. Of course the site does offer videos of previous episodes from the television series, but that's not all, he explains. The Cat tells little ones where to click if they want to play a game, and announces the name of each link on the page when a child hovers over it. Children who want to play a game but do not see one that interests them can click the cat until he announces one they like. It's hard to go wrong; the games are engaging, educational and entertaining, and they featured Seuss' visually stimulating, comfortable, and familiar art style.

There are some design issues. From game to game, there are inconsistent sound levels, audio "artifacts." Even if you're in one game or on a page, you can mouse over a navigation tab and cause the cat to recite the word. There are other instructions that might confuse very little ones. In Deep Sea Follow Me, for example, the narration asks player to click or touch. Clicking works; touching just gets fingerprints on the screen for those not using a touchscreen device.

Overall, though, the website is friendly, welcoming, and age appropriate. The games are fun and do assist in reinforcing lessons from each episode.
