LEGO: Legends of CHIMA is a new LEGO product line that, like Ninjago, encourages game play in addition to pretend play. This particular set, Eris' Eagle Interceptor, is a pretend play set that can be used to build a rather elaborate-looking airplane that closely resembles an eagle. The cockpit can separate from the main body to be used as an independent capsule. The CHIMA characters are animals in minifigure form that interact more like tribes of humans than true animals. The Eagle Interceptor comes with Eris from the Eagle tribe and two rival minifigures from the Raven tribe.

The plane builds quickly and its feather-like tail components and avian landing gear lead to a visually appealing result. The flick-style missiles, however, are apparently slightly painful to fire, and the airplane offers few other truly unique features. In our testers' collections, this set will see more use being rebuilt and merged into other sets than in its planned form.

Like everything in the LEGO product lines, this is a quality toy. The choice of one LEGO fantasy world over another is entirely subjective. Children who really like animal characters will doubtless enjoy this set. The modularity of LEGOs means that it can be integrated with other models in the same line as well as models from other product lines, allowing for creativity and engineering skill development.
