Review:

Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin is a documentary-format program providing an astounding look at what's going on beneath the sea's surface. It airs Saturday mornings on ABC affiliates.

Emmy-award winner Jeff Corwin is a conservationist best known for hosting programs on the Animal Planet channel. In Ocean Mysteries, he partners with the Georgia Aquarium and lends his trademark enthusiasm and expert knowledge to tales that take viewers around the world. Each half-hour program sticks to one particular theme and Corwin visits habitats and meets with scientists, researchers, and marine biologists at work.

In one episode, Corwin visits the Alaska SeaLife Center, where experts care for an abandoned harbor seal pup less than 24 hours old. The program follows the pup's road to recovery and eventual release back into the wild, and it also profiles the efforts to care for other seals at the SeaLife Center. Ever seen a pregnant seal receive an ultrasound? Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin has got you covered!

Another episode featured salmon migration, accompanied by incredible footage of the birds and bears that feast on the fish. That episode also explained the "death gene," which causes dramatic rapid tissue degeneration in salmon after they spawn.

Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin is a fast-paced and enlightening half-hour. Program information says this show is appropriate for young people aged 13 to 16, but animal lovers and conservationists of all ages will be thrilled by the expert videography and remarkable stories of the natural world and the naturalists hard at work to protect it.
