Review:

Born to Explore with Richard Wiese airs on Saturday mornings on most ABC stations. While that's the traditional programming block for children's programming, Born to Explore will appeal to adventurers, animal lovers, and anthropology enthusiasts of all ages. This excellent half-hour magazine-format television program is extremely engaging, thanks to a big budget, capable production team, and likable host—Richard Wiese, who became the youngest president of the 100-year-old Explorer's Club in 2002.

The best part of this program is its commitment to storytelling and faithfulness to the subject matter. Each episode focuses on one topic. These include protecting endangered cheetahs in Namibia, tracking polar bear migration in Canada, and caring for and training horses in Chile with the help of a horse whisperer.

Viewers will be treated to much more than a video travelogue in Born to Explore. Storytelling never flags; these are informative, character-driven documentaries focusing on engaging feature topics, with solid research and reporting and exceptional and creative videography. Viewers will appreciate insights into lifestyles and life forms around the world, and they'll come away enriched by the solid educational content.
