Review:

Cognitive Kid's Little Green Island is a well-researched app designed to heighten environmental awareness among children. The player is given an island on which to create his or her own paradise. The first task is to remove the trash on the island by dragging bottles and cans washed upon the shore into a recycling bin. Upon successful completion of this task, the user receives green bucks, pine trees and rain clouds. One can purchase trees and seeds with green bucks, and then use rain clouds to water them.

Ansel and Clair guide the user through the various tasks they have to complete. The challenges young island managers face become more complex as play advances. There are wildfires in one level, and pests in another. Players learn how to responsibly manage fires and deter pests without using harmful pesticides. Fact sheets about each of the topics of the game are available. They cover trash removal, seed growth, trees, pesticides, the greenhouse effect and more.
