Loud Crow Interactive's adaptations of Sandra Boynton's board books actively animate the fun and frolic of the originals.

But Not the Hippopotamus stars a hippopotamus so shy that she's able only to watch the action from the sidelines. In this story, the hog and the frog are playing in the mud, but it's all a hippo can do to muster the courage to look on from a distance. A cat and rats are trying on hats—but hippo can only watch through the window. Eventually, the animal characters of the story ask the hippopotamus to join in their fun. She ponders for a moment and then decides it is time to join. Readers are given the Read to Me or Read by Myself options. In Read to Me, each word is sounded individually when tapped securing the app's value as a pre-reading tool. Each illustrated page includes a variety of fun and clever interactive elements. The animals appear to be on springs when touched, ambient audio adds local color to each scene, and rats run off the page only to appear on the other side.

Fun, creative, and laugh out loud.
