Build a Truck - by Duck Duck MooseSpring 2014 Mobile Apps
Most children, boys and girls alike, go through a stage in which they enjoy playing with cars and trucks. Vehicle play is a long-lasting play pattern that offers plenty of variety and exploration. In Build a Truck by Duck Duck Moose, players choose from two Monster Truck body frames and then customize their trucks by selecting paint colors, detailing, tires/wheels, mufflers, etc. Upon completion of their vehicles, children can race them to earn coins, which, in turn, are used to "purchase" upgrades and customizations. Consequently, children can build and customize a wide variety of vehicles.
On the most basic level, children can practice hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, vocabulary, and cause-and-effect relationships. However, what we really applaud are the physics lessons. Children can learn how their different choices in vehicle styles and customizations affect how their vehicles perform on a variety of terrains. Thus, the app has not only long-term play value, but long-term learning value as well.
