Review:

Daniel Tiger's Day & Night is designed to help young children practice the routines they need to learn to get ready for school in the morning and wind down for bed in the evening. Daniel greets the user in the opening screen, which is divided into an image indicating morning and another indicating evening. Touch the morning image and Daniel is in his bed with his mother telling him it's time to get up. On the left are five icons of tasks Daniel needs to complete to get ready for school; get dressed, eat breakfast, brush his teeth, put on shoes and catch the bus. Interactivity is incorporated into every task, as tapping each one of the icons initiates an animated segment in which the user gets to help Daniel do one of the activities such as helping to brush teeth or zip up a zipper. To add fun to the tasks , periodically there is a make-believe segment in which a pancake dances or Daniel fantasizes about being a scuba diver or super hero.

A bathtub, toothbrush, pajamas, storybook and a bed represent evening routines. This section also includes some creative activities beyond the rote routine preparation. Pajamas can be painted and bubbles can be popped, however it would be nice if it were possible to mute the music. Daniel Tiger's Day and Night is both practical and fun, and could be helpful for kids having problems adjusting to the expectations of morning and bedtime routines.
