Review:
This is no simple-minded rehash of oldies, but an entertaining approach to such R&B gold as "Please Mr. Postman,'' "Too Many Fish in the Sea,'' "Stop! In the Name of Love,'' "Tears of a Clown'' and "You've Got What It Takes.'' It's music with a heartfelt purpose: All the songs are connected with a storyline in rhyme and prose revolving around a friendly "Postperson'' and the kids she meets on her route.

The singing mail carrier (a warm, embracing performance by Sandra Wright) helps open up the lines of communication when special friends are hurt and angry ("new friends are silver, but old friends are gold''), is a pal to a roving pet pooch (who sings "Ain't Too Proud to Beg''), and befriends the pooch's anxious (and adorably voiced) little owner, too. She also sees the sadness hidden behind a boy's pretend smile.

The smooth instrumentals and the adult and kid vocals are tops in toe-tapping appeal and the positive messages, interwoven throughout, are delightfully delivered.
