Review:

In storyteller Judy Sierra's clever and funny take on the iconic children's song, complemented by painter Matthew Myers' humorous illustrations, Old MacDonald starts out as just a guy tired of mowing his lawn. He recruits a goat, but she just "nibbled the edges. Then she ate MacDonald's hedges!" Inspiration strikes and MacDonald consults the internet to hire the very smart Little Red Hen, who proceeds to turn his entire lawn into compost with the help of table scraps, a horse for manure and a "worm hotel," despite initial protests from grumpy neighbors. Vegetables thrive, the hen lays eggs, the goat gives milk, bees make honey, the neighbors are happy to buy and Old MacDonald's farm, renamed MacRed's, is an appetizing success –--echoing the new real-life "lawn-turned-vegetable garden" movement.
