Creative GalaxySpring 2015 Television
Kids ages 3 to 5 will be thrilled with the very imaginative Creative Galaxy, a half-hour CGI-animated program featuring adorable alien Arty and his squishy sidekick Epiphany. It's an Amazon Kids original production by the creator of Blue's Clues and the popular new series Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.
In Arty's world, creativity rules (and rocks) and problems are solved by breaking out the art supplies. In "Mom's Birthday Party," Arty learns about sculptures and mosaics as he searches for a unique gift for his mom. In "Annie's Flowers," Arty uses tissue paper and pipe cleaners to make fake flowers for a friend who's allergic to the real ones in his garden. And in "Present for Baby Georgia," Arty makes a stuffed animal to calm his cranky baby sister, an endeavor that includes testing out a variety of materials and textures. Arty cuts out a pattern and makes his craft using felt from his "idea box," and then sews and stuffs it. The craft calms his crying sister and the episode ends with a sweet song that explains how a stuffed animal can be a reassuring pal for both boys and girls.
Each half-hour program includes two animated episodes, and exceptional live-action interstitials featuring kids making crafts using a featured art technique. The program's art focus allows for plenty of pre-school readiness instruction with color and shape recognition, and it also delivers some impressive art theory in very age-appropriate language. At the same time, storylines include themes about character development and building loving relationships with family and friends.
It's musical, it's colorful, it's educational, and, as the lyrics in the opening theme song proclaim, "ideas are everywhere in a creative galaxy." Parents, be prepared! Stock your child's "idea box" with plenty of arts and crafts supplies because each episode of Creative Galaxy is an invitation to creative expression.
