chickaDEE Magazine
Spring 2015 MagazinesChickadee is from the same publishing group as the noteworthy children's magazine OWL, but geared toward a slightly younger age group. Like its sister publication, Chickadee features articles on science, nature, and other cultures, all punctuated with plentiful illustrations. Recent topics include ancient Egypt, magic, and what back-to-school season looks like around the world. Children can learn what crops grew best along the Nile River (leeks and figs were among them), all about the sacred Egyptian ibis, and even how to mummify an apple. Each issue contains crafts, jokes, comics, games, an animal of the month, and an installment from an outer space story series. This is a great way to educate while entertaining young readers.
