Review:

Thinkrolls introduces physics concepts in a maze format. Players learn about drag, slide, gravity, friction, etc. as they navigate an avatar/game token down a maze. Designed for two age groups, either 3 to 5 or 5-8, eight "chapters" offer a total of 207 mazes. Easy (default) has 104 levels for ages 3-5; the hard level, for ages 5+, has 103 challenges. The app can accommodate up to six players; parents choose and customize the levels accordingly. The parent section describes skills acquired through gameplay as well as a progress bar for those interested in keeping track.

The concepts explored start with simple clicking, dragging and sliding and advance to gravity, friction, upward lift, density, elasticity temperature and synchronization. Player must complete each chapter before advancing. The rewards for successful play unlock additional characters (18 total) that contribute to more advanced play. This delightfully appealing game introduces logic and strategy skills and hones them through play. If mistakes are made, the game can be reset to try again. Reassessing and correcting "mistakes" is key to learning. And in our book, that's a significant value add.
