Review:

Otto is different. Rather than roosting and hunting like the other owls, he prefers reading, making friends, and reciting the poetry of Keats, Rossetti, Dickinson, and even T. S. Eliot.

The other owls harass poor Otto and he runs away -- unaware that a little mouse whom he has befriended is following him. Deciding that the moon is his only friend, Otto makes up a poem and recites it to the moon. His tiny follower has brought along other mice. They enjoy Otto's poem so much that they shout for more. Ultimately, the forest rings nightly to poetry recitations which have captured a wide audience of mice and reformed owl bullies - a humorous combination.

As the entire plot takes place at night, the palette of the book is shades of blue. Our loosely-drawn, light brown hero, who combines humor with pathos, stands out against the night. An inviting bedtime read-aloud.
