Review:

How do bugs, birds, and mammals of the forest build their homes? Welcome to the Neighborwood explains how snails, hummingbirds, beavers, honeybees, and other animals use tools they find in nature, or the tools within their own bodies. Best of all, it provides a pop-up model of the relevant web, shell, dam, or nest on each page. As readers progress through the book, each new page describes how the animal uses building resources provided by the animal on the next page, illustrating the interdependence of the various species.

Welcome to the Neighborwood is not merely a good pop-up book, with sturdily constructed and beautiful paper engineering; it is also an entertaining, and informative children's science book. My own son was excited about every single page (so much so, in fact, that he insisted that I interrupt our dinner preparations so that he could show me each animal home).
