Listen to Clues

Fall 2015 Games
Ages: 4 & Up
Price: $19.99

Listening well and communicating effectively are two skill areas that help us succeed in personal, academic and business relationships. This age appropriate and appealing game is a playful way to get started.

One player is the speaker and the other the listener. The listener places the game strip in front of her with the image side up. The speaker stacks the game cards with the colored circles facing up. He flips a card over and gives verbal clues and gestures to describe the image and the listener points to the image on the game strip she thinks he's describing. The "goal" is to have the color circles on the playing cards line up in the same order as those on the color strip. The speaker uses his/her vocabulary and gestures to help guide the listener to the correct sequence.

It takes a few tries to get the hang of it, and that's the point. Children can gradually master their newly acquired skills of giving appropriate clues and/or gestures; and listening to or observing either the clues or gestures. As a child perfects the above skills, he/she can then be further challenged by playing the game using only verbal clues.

A well-crafted and well-priced game designed to introduce young children (and their parents) to the importance and the fun of mastering receptive and expressive communication skills.
