Review:

Bianca's life isn't so different from other little girls. She goes to school, plays with friends, enjoys imagined adventures with her favorite stuffed animal. Oh, and she also has Wish Magic, a fairy-like ability that allows her wishes to come true with the snap of her fingers and a cry of, "Wishenpoof!" It's a family trait, apparently; her mom has it too but Bianca only recently acquired her magical skills and sometimes it takes a little trial and error to get it right.

That's the premise of Wishenpoof! a half-hour 3D-animated series from Amazon Studios. Preschoolers (girls, in particular) will probably delight in Bianca's adventures as she perfects her powers and fulfills her and her friend's wishes-learning lessons about friendship, expectations, and responsibility in the process. Bianca is also big on imagination and creativity and the storylines celebrate these qualities as she and her come-to-life teddy bear Bob imagine everything from journeys to the bottom of the sea to traveling through outer space. In the series pilot, Bianca and her friends consider what to do for their school's talent show. Other plot examples include completing a project for school and collaborating with a friend to build a clubhouse.

Executive Produced by the creative team responsible for preschool hits including Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and Blue's Clues, Wishenpoof! shares some trademark techniques with main characters directly addressing viewers, asking questions, and encouraging creativity and problem-solving. The program also has peppy musical interludes and original songs, and the story morals are usually summed up in very plain language by one of the characters. . . although they all more or less fall along the lines of, "With or without magical abilities, you and your friends can have fun and solve problems - one step at a time."

Wishenpoof! is skillfully executed, the dialogue has some clever moments, the emotions are handled well and the storylines spread positive messages about character development and creativity.
