Review:

The apt subtitle of this thoroughly engaging magazine for the younger set: "The See and Do, Laugh and Learn Magazine." Each issue has a theme (baby animals, reptiles, beach fun, heroes-firefighters, paramedics, police officers-and more were featured in 2015); and each includes activities (crafts, recipes, mazes, puzzles, letter recognition, counting, vocabulary practice), as well as poems, jokes, stories, and real life information presented with a variety of visual styles and verbal clarity (no talking down to the target audience). Guiding the fun is Chirp, a wide-eyed little cartoon chick in red boots, who, along with feathered friends Tweet and Squawk, sets up each month's theme with an opening comic strip. Readers are encouraged to send in their own pictures and drawings, and the magazine (also the basis for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's "Chirp" TV series), offers inviting digital content.
