Creative Kids is a quarterly publication featuring the writing and artwork of kids. The magazine is wide-ranging in both subject matter and reading level, appealing to children ages 8 - 16. Featured youths offer fiction, poetry, essays, interviews, book reviews, puzzles, and crafts. Readers are encouraged to submit their own work or to join the advisory board for the publication; advisory board members serve for two years and are expected to be regular contributors. All authors' bylines include their age, their hometown, and a photograph, highlighting the range of ages and places of origin of the creative contributors. As the material is so broad, not everything in a given issue will appeal to any one reader, and there is more of interest to the preteen reader than older youths, but there is certain to be something for everyone. By far the best feature of the magazine, however, is the ongoing challenge to the reader to be a creative kid.
