Shape GurusSpring 2016 Mobile Apps
Designed for playful learners ages 2 and up, Shape Gurus is as charming as it is thoughtful.
Starting with the appropriate metaphor of a bird building a nest, the app takes users through a series of geometric puzzles that require matching of shapes, sizes and colors. Players here a satisfying "click" sound when pieces are correctly placed. Incorrectly placed pieces simply spring back. No warning sounds or audible admonitions to be heard. As each puzzle is completed - a watering can, a flower, a rocket ship - an animation gives context to the assembled pieces. Progressing through the game, we get the sense of a story unfolding.
The only bug to be aware of is in the evergreen tree puzzle. Although the triangles are clearly green, the narrator says they're red. We hope that's quickly fixed.
We suspect this to be treated like a familiar bedtime story; despite knowing the outcome, young children will want to puzzle it through again, and again. For co-playing parents who need a change, and want to introduce a new element, try selecting another language. Choose from English (US + UK), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean.
