A Spoonful of Songs

A Spoonful of Songs

Spring 2016 Music
Ages: Infant - 8 yrs.
CD Price: $15.00
Review:

Seattle-based folksinger/guitarist/music teacher Charlotte Thistle, whose light, expressive soprano is accompanied by a cadre of sterling fellow musicians, has a gift for turning songs into story-her own creative originals and her tweaks of such traditional staples as "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Rub-A-Dub-Dub." Listeners can imagine themselves raising a rumpus with "Big Scary Monsters" (fiddler Paul Anastasio spookily enhances the mood). In the funny first track, a kid isn't so sure about the "Dragon on My Knee" (not to mention the "dinosaur on my nose," and the hippo "in my ear"). Thistle offers songs sung in French and Spanish, too; the latter includes the tuneful if unlikely cycle-of-life undersea saga, "Una Sardina." Found treasure: "Spin Me Around," a reflection through physical play of a parent and child's shared joy.
