Review:

Baba Yaga, a card game based on the Slavic folklore character of the same name, contains 78 cards of various point-values and instructions for game play. It is designed for two to five players, aged eight and up and is estimated to take approximately fifteen minutes to play.

Baba Yaga is a strategy game (with a dose of luck) in which the goal is to have the fewest points in hand by collecting Baba Yaga (0 points) and other low-scoring cards. Players can also use a variety of spell cards to affect their cards and those of their opponents. Unfortunately, the instructions are overly wordy and the rules, spells and special cards are difficult to absorb during the first few rounds. However, once mastered, the game is a good way to practice basic math skills and to hone problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
