Review:

Namoo: Wonders of Plant Life by Crayon Box is an interactive, educational app for children aged nine through eleven. It features nine chapters of scientific content including descriptions and demonstrations of pollination, fertilization, plant cell anatomy, photosynthesis and more. In addition to the interactive pages of the app, there are detailed written descriptions in each section; children can read these in order to explore more advanced content. In this manner, the app can be "customized" for a variety of ages and learning abilities. Younger players may be content to explore the interactive portions of the app, while older, more advanced players may choose to work with the more detailed written content.

Each section is beautifully designed and illustrated with features that allow an interactive and immersive experience for children. For example, children can tap a flower to release pollen and start fertilization, provide sunlight and water for photosynthesis, or help time pass to see how a tree trunk grows. There is also a cause-and-effect element in the app as players change environmental factors and watch the results (e.g., the interplay between sodium and water in the Roots section).

This is an appealing, entertaining, and engaging way to introduce and hone an interest in plant science.
