Easy Music - Give Kids An Ear For MusicFall 2016 Mobile Apps
Easy Music- Give Kids an Ear for Music by Edoki Academy is designed to introduce children to basic musical skills and concepts via fun, simple-to-play, non-theory-based games. The sandbox-style app features two modes: Practice and Compose. In the Practice mode, children learn and hone basic music skills as they play fun games with four friendly characters.
All lessons are gently guided by a dragonfly. The frogs help teach children about notes and melody by having them listen and repeat the sequence. New gestures (tap, swipe up, etc.) and sounds are added as the difficulty increases. The bear introduces percussive sounds as players copy and repeat the rhythms he claps. Sound too easy? In the first 14 levels, the child can see the bear clapping. But beginning with level 15 the bear's back is turned, requiring the player to rely on sound only. The fox teaches rhythm as players tap bees to stop them from biting him, and the whale teaches pitch and recognition, all with increasing levels of difficulty. Moving through these lessons grants children access to the rainbow in the sky, a colorful piano that children can play. While playing these simple and fun games, children are being exposed to and learning important basic musical concepts and skills. They can then use these new skills in the Sandcastle (composition mode) where they experiment composing jazz with Little Bear, island music with the flamingos, and Japanese-style music with Panda.
The app can accommodate up to forty children's profiles on one adult's account and includes a detailed Parents' Guide with instructions and helpful information about how the app works, and how to get the most from using it. There's even a co-composer feature for those with an Apple watch. This is a beautifully designed and thoroughly playful app that will foster in children an interest in learning music.
