LET'S GO TO SLEEP: A Story with Five Steps to Help Ease Your Child to SleepFall 2016 Audio Book
I give this audio book the highest compliment: it put me to sleep, in the best possible way. It would take an impressively determined child to get through this entire recording without falling asleep.
At 38 minutes, it's a perfect length, and if any toddler can muscle through the soothing and meditative voice of narrator Robert Petkoff and his sweet and calming forest animals, they certainly cannot last throughout second narrator Tavia Gilbert.
The audio book encourages its listeners to use simple meditative and breathing techniques, and employs gentle sound effects to create an effective narrative lullaby. There's no excitable plot here, or any cliffhanging dramatic events to keep listeners on edge; just a cool, calm urging to fall into a nice peaceful dream. The quiet forests and sweet nurturing animals, combined with the lulling voice of the narrators provide an antidote for adult insomnia, as well.
Because the premise of the book is about relaxation and dreams, it can be played over and over again without feeling repetitive.
