Discovery Kids: Dinosaur Skull DigFall 2016 Toys
The Discovery Kids: Dinosaur Skull Dig kit includes: one earthen block with dinosaur skull encased, a wooden chisel, wooden mallet, paint brush, display stand, sticker sheet, poster, and instructions. Children use the enclosed tools, which mimic those sometimes used by real paleontologists, to remove the dinosaur skull from the earthen block. It can then be placed on the included stand for display along with the educational poster. This attractive poster features pictures and brief descriptions of the tyrannosaurus rex, stegosaurus, and triceratops.
Suitable for children who are interested in dinosaurs, the kit offers a peek into how the work of removing fossils from the ground is actually done. It is also a good way to hone fine motor skills and patience (as it does take quite a bit of work and time to fully "unearth" the skull).
Although the package states the recommended age of twelve years and up, our younger testers (ages five and nine years) were fully capable of using and enjoying the kit and educational materials while a thirteen year old had no interest in using the kit at all. With full respect to safety and supervision, we suggest that dinosaur lovers as young as eight may be ready for this dig.
