CardventuresFall 2016 Games
Gamewright's Cardventure series brings storytelling and adventure to card games.
Each deck let's players (single or multiple) decide how the (pirates or alien) adventure unfolds. As players flip the cards, they're faced with choices - and each choice determines the course of play. Let's use the Jump Ship game as the example.
The cards themselves are divided into four piles, each representing a different ship. One is your ship, the Black Bounty, and the other three are rival ships. To start, the player picks a card from his/her own ship deck. On the card is a scenario (your ship is under siege, and other pirates have stolen your booty, etc.) and choices at the bottom on how you will react. Should you lead your pirates in a raid on another ship, or go look for buried treasure? Each choice leads the pirate to a certain card in another deck, which gives you pieces to the rest of the adventure. Cards have a treasure value in the top right corner, so as they are collected, your treasure grows. The goal is to have the most treasure at the end of the game. Each game takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes with lots of fun twists and turns.
