PBS KIDS Games AppSpring 2017 Mobile Apps
The PBS Kids Games app is a robust portal to a library of PBS Kids show-themed games. Parents of children ages 2 - 8 will find more than 50 age appropriate educational games to reinforce a child's favorite show's messages and lessons, including Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Wild Kratts, Super Why, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, Dinosaur Train, Peg + Cat and more.
Easy to navigate, games can be accessed by topic, show title or preferred character. The choices based on skill development are problem solving, teamwork, engineering, adventure, measurement, math, science, nature and emotional growth. Aviva's Power Suit game (Wild Kratts) challenges the player to select from images of body parts of a variety of animals to make a power suit for specific tasks. In the process of making the choices and putting the suit together, the player learns about the animals featured in the game. River Run (Dinosaur Train) develops hand-eye coordination and provides information on a number of insects within in the game. Peg's Pizza Place (Peg + Cat) helps develop math skills by asking players to add a specific number of toppings to pizzas.
Our iPad testers had problems loading games, and reported some crashes. However, iPhone and Android phone players had better experiences. New free games are being added all the time; other games available for purchase are clearly marked and require a parent (or clever older sibling) to access. But there's plenty to play and learn for free.
