Review:

Smart and vivid word play, deft melodic lines and layered vocals make for a buoyant blend in actor-singer-entrepreneur and family music artist Lisa Loeb's new release, an album rooted in messages of affirming uplift. With irresistible percussive urgency, "Moon Star Pie" offers "it's gonna be alright" reassurance; the title track (with actor Craig Robinson) is a rhyming validation of "what ya feel" when you feel it. "Say Hello" asks shy listeners to "give it a go," not simply as a lesson in manners, but because it makes others feel good to be acknowledged; and "I Was Here" offers a soulful perspective on being present for what life brings, good and bad. Loeb ends the album with an unexpected repeat of the track, "You Can Count On Me," an upbeat anthem reprised as a quiet lullaby. Lovely.
