Review:

This age appropriate kit is best for its bird chart, attractive poster, and reference booklet. It includes many good photographs, and the birds are clearly labeled. One suggested activity is recognizing birds by their distinctive silhouettes. It also promotes learning bird behavior and anatomy and listening to birdcalls.

Sorting birds into categories such as raptors, waterfowl, and songbirds is a good learning objective. Comparing and contrasting bird size and matching birds are, as well. Take a field trip to a local park, zoo, or beach or study birds in your own backyard. For supplementary reading, a bibliography with good books by Gail Gibbons and Steve Jenkins included.
