Review:

Kim Schneiderman writes that her debut CD of "musical stories" was inspired by watching her young daughters explore their world. With substantial instrumentation and a host of other accomplished musicians, Schneiderman performs well-shaped, expressive songs about the soothing magic of "Blueberry Pancakes," parent-child togetherness (the serene "Going to the Hills"), the endless possibilities of a brand-new sandbox ("Can You Dig It?"). A "Walk Around the Block," with its acoustic guitar strum provided by Schneiderman's sister Stephanie Schneiderman, is an opportunity for play and observation, and in "A Couple of Worms," a girl who is given everything and always wants more is an object lesson in what really matters: "imagination and a friend." Parents may not welcome what "One of Those Days" advises when nothing goes right: The next time it happens, Schneiderman sings, "go ahead and scream…Shout it out, let it out, don't sit and pout, you will feel better." But "Flutterby Butterfly," a lullaby woven through with an "I believe in you" message, is simply beautiful.
