Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin

Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin

Spring 2018 Television
Ages: 13 - 16 yrs.
Rating: TV G
Review:

Jeff Corwin's job is to ride on a cruise ship and hop off at ports to visit new places, find out how people live, watch them doing unusual things, and share that with viewers.

"For me, it's about exploring," Corwin explains on Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin, "and I know adventure is waiting." In one recent episode he went to Japan and took his wife, Natasha, and their two daughters. They learned about harvesting tea and then took part in a traditional tea ceremony. In other episodes he has gone to Alaska, Belize and Viet Nam. Corwin always seeks out something traditional and unique-to-the-area to do.

Warning: You might develop a serious case of wanderlust while watching. Corwin's passion comes through as he excitedly questions the people he visits about their beliefs, customs and culture—even when it means seeking out an ugly giant salamander or getting up close and personal with a hairy muskox.

A conservationist and biologist, Corwin always winds up back on the ship (where thankfully, it's not-blatant plug for the show's sponsor) to recap the visit and map his next adventure. It's easy to want to set sail right along with him.
