Review:

Philippe Cousteau brings knowledge, passion, and a sense of energy and even urgency to the topics he covers and the places he explores. In this travelogue meets documentary style series, one episode features the winner of a Student Explorer Contest, which the series' producers held to honor teens who understand and want to explore the world. Stunning documentary-style footage follows that lucky teen winner on an excursion to Mexico as she achieves her dream of swimming with whale sharks. Another episode takes viewers to the ever-changing slopes of Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island. Yet another episode features rescue dogs at Yellowstone National Park and visits with the park rangers and their canine partners to discover how they brave the harsh weather to keep visitors safe.

Whether for family or class room watching, viewers will come away feeling like they've traveled to those locations right alongside Cousteau. The series builds an appreciation for the planet, not just as a focus of scientific study but also as the awesome and humbling experience we have of living on it.
