MathMonsters: Addition by Edimia is an expansive learning app designed to help children learn and practice addition facts from 0 through 10,000; no that's not a type-0, the app really does present children with that much material! The app's activities are divided by number range: 0-10, 0-20, 0-100, 0-1000, and 0-10000. Each number range is then further divided into two types of activities: Practice and Feed. In Practice Mode, children are presented with addition sentences, a blank work area, and a series of virtual manipulatives (i.e., unit cube, tens cube, etc.) with which to solve the problems. Once they have calculated the answer, they input it and are immediately told whether they are correct or not. When a child enters an incorrect answer, the correct answer is given and the problem is explained. In this way, children can immediately know that they made a mistake, what that mistake was, and how to correct it. In the Feed Mode, children use the math facts they practiced to play a variety of math-themed games featuring quirky monsters. Correct answers earn food for the monsters and puzzle pieces used to create more monsters; and, incorrect answers are corrected.

The games are very straightforward, but entertaining. In one game, children have to drag the correct numbers into a food machine to create a complete addition sentence. In another, the food machine supplies the answer and they children must create the corresponding addition sentence. Regardless of the individual differences, each game revolves around feeding the monsters; and, their facial expressions and sound effects are a hilarious "reward" to kids of many ages (even big ones). Although there is no dedicated Parents' Area to track a child's progress, parents and caregivers can check the progress inside each level with one quick tap. MathMonsters is a kooky, fun way to have children practice their addition skills.
