Review:

Designed for two to four people, players place tiles of colored symbols onto a hexagonal grid with the goal of creating straight lines of matching symbols. There are six symbols, so players keep track of the lines they have created on each turn by moving colored pegs on a pegboard. In a nice twist, the lowest-scoring peg is the player's final score, so players need to keep all the colors balanced to have the best chance of winning.

The game requires some strategy, observation, and a dose of luck. The scoring takes a few rounds to catch on; it's easy to overlook a line, and you don't count the first symbol in the line, but you do count all the lines that originate only from the tile you just placed.

Ingenious is the kind of family game that is easy to learn and requires just the right level of attention to allow players to be competitive yet social at the same time.
