Review:
13-year-old Mikey, who never knew his own father, worships his stepfather Bill. He copies him in every way and thinks of him, somewhat jokingly, as "Lord of the Deep." He is ecstatic over being allowed to help Bill with his charter fishing boat, which is anchored in Hawaiian waters. During a three-day period with two rich, obnoxious renters, Cal and Ernie, Mikey together with Ernie lands a great fish. Ernie offers Bill triple the charter fee for all the credit. Bill agrees. For Mikey, it is a tough moral dilemma. He is painfully disillusioned about his stepfather. Nevertheless this exciting, splendidly written adventure has a satisfying ending. Absolutely first-rate.
