Review:
This book of bilingual seasonal poems is Alarcón and Gonzalez' fourth collaboration. The city of San Francisco features large, with the same cast of characters, enjoying the city's sights, reappearing to illustrate every poem. The typesetting is creative: the text of "First snowfall / Primera nevada"

el cielo      the sky
le manda       is sending
dulces besos       soft kisses
a la tierra       to the earth

is set into snowflakes falling gently to the ground. Gonzalez' drawings match the poems' exuberance. To fully represent the winter ambience, the children go to the Sierra Nevada to tumble in the snow wearing army surplus snowsuits, making them look like iguanas in the snow. An enjoyable bilingual picture book of exemplary cultural integrity.
