Review:
New York City has long had a tall tale hero, Mose, the firefighter, who is eight feet tall with hands as big as Virginia hams. After years of heroics, the modest Mose prophetically disappears after rescuing a large number of people at an enormous fire.

While readers can ponder the amazing appropriateness of having this tall tale end as it does, the story, with its wonderfully dramatic illustrations of Mose, is timely, powerful, and comforting for children. And, yes, it is fittingly dedicated to the lengthening memory of the 343 firefighters who died on September 11, 2001.
