Review:
For many hardcore baseball fans, the field of dream extends to the many Major League Baseball and minor league stadiums. So when on vacation, catching a game in another town becomes a wonderful pastime.

This great book is THE travel guide for families of baseball fans--reviewing the authors' experiences on the road at during 34 well-planned baseball pilgrimages across the nation. Most of the jaunts take in several games at different stadiums in the region--such as the 4-5 day New England vacation that includes Cape Cod League games, the Boston Red Sox at Fenway, the Pawtucket Red Sox in Providence, and others. The book covers chapters from "Blue Ridge Baseball" and "Grapefruit League Spring Training" to Disneyland and Hollywood baseball excursions.

In each chapter, the authors--with the help of their two children, Emily and Hugh-- run through such basics as stadium locations, ticket information, tips on seating, stadium food, even the visiting team hotel (in case you want to bump into players off the field). Then there's more in-depth on where to stay, where to eat in town and the other sites to see (museums, universities, zoos, etc.) and things to do (rollercoasters, live music, whitewater rafting, camping, etc.)

No curveball here, but plenty of game lore and anecdotes from a crazy-for-baseball family who has done it firsthand lending loads of credibility and insight to each chapter. If you're looking for a grand slam of a good vacation, this book is a must.
