Review:
With wildly imaginative humor and creative percussive rhythms, Billy Jonas and a bunch of enthusiastic kids invite listeners to put on their thinking caps while having fun. The title track is a vocabulary lesson in disguise: "What kind of cat is a great big disaster? Catastrophe. What kind of cat is an even bigger disaster? Cataclysm." "There's an Alien in My Lungs" pretty much defines a drippy head cold, and "Watermelon," about the growth cycle of the watermelon is inspired silliness that makes audience participation just about guaranteed ("Ssssssslurp!!! Pppt!!!").

In "Some Houses," a witty lyric spiral informs listeners about the origin of organic and man-made materials; "Bear to the Left (and Snake to the right; Weasel on down and Duck outta sight…)," with its bluesy string bass, is a perfect traveling tune and "Nocturnal"--"Hey, hey, what's that sound? Nocturnal animals coming 'round"-mixes a vivid illustration of the concept with a graceful melody and a dash of humor. Jonas' easy-going interaction with the kids heard on the CD reaches out to young listeners, too. He's a find.
